The in-person program is perfect for yoga teachers who want to earn their RCYT distinction with Yoga Alliance, as well as for teachers and parents who want to teach introduce yoga to kids. If you can’t make the in-person program, please see our online programs.

Our next training will be held June7,  8, 9, and June 14, 15, 2024. You can attend via Zoom or in-person at Bodysattva Healing Arts Center in Thousand Oaks, CA.
The hours of the group training will be 12:30pm-4:30pm Pacific time each day.

Overview

Teaching yoga to kids is a rewarding experience, giving you the opportunity to make positive and lasting changes in the lives of kids.

Our program focuses on developing your ability to provide kids with fun, effective, and safe yoga classes for the ages of 3 years old through teenagers. The program focuses on positive teaching techniques, proper sequencing, safety consideration and kid-friendly modifications.

If you currently teach yoga and would like to specialize in teaching yoga to kids, or if you’re a classroom teacher or otherwise work with kids, this program may be right for you. Our in-person (or Zoom) program fulfills the requirements for the Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher distinction with Yoga Alliance for current yoga teachers. If you are just looking for an introduction to teaching yoga to kids, check out our self-paced online program. Please note, that the self-paced online program also provides credit towards the in-person (or Zoom) program.

Children are natural yogis. Good posture, the ability to breathe deeply and an open attitude toward life are born with. Yoga is a wonderful way to ensure that we don’t forget these healthy ways of moving, breathing and being. Below are just a few of the benefits that yoga offers for kids :

To complete the Program:

To earn your Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher certification with Yoga Alliance, you will need to complete the following:

  1. Complete the online self-paced course (open book written exam, sample lesson plan, personal statement)
  2. Complete a small project of your choice (example: create an outline for a new kids yoga class)
  3. Sign and submit a Yoga Teacher Ethics statement
  4. Attend the live (or via Zoom) group training sessions
  5. Complete your teaching practicum (in group and one individually scheduled practicum)

Completing both the online course and in-person (or via Zoom) training fulfills the requirements for the Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) distinction with Yoga Alliance.

What if I decide to not attend the in-person kids yoga teacher training and no longer wish to complete the online program?

Our program is 100% guaranteed. If for any reason you decide to not complete the program, simply email us within 60 days of paying for the online course for a full refund.

What type of certification will I have when I am done?

Once you complete the online program and the in-person training, you will be eligible for the RCYT certification with Yoga Alliance if you are a current yoga teacher. If you complete the online program, you will be eligible for 20 hours of continuing education with Yoga Alliance and will receive a certificate, so you may teach kids yoga and may obtain professional liability insurance for that purpose.

How much yoga experience do I need to enroll in the kids yoga teacher training program?

You simply need to love yoga and kids and be willing to practice to enroll in the Kids Yoga Teacher training program.

What if I have to miss a portion of the in-person training?

Missed sessions must be arranged in advance and will be handled on a case by case basis.

When is the tuition due for in-person training?

After submitting your application for the in-person training, you will be asked to pay a fee of $97 for the online course and to reserve your spot in the in-person training. The full tuition for any in-person training will be due before the first day of the training.

What if I have already taken your online kids yoga teacher training program?

If you have previously completed the Kids Yoga Teacher Training Online Program and want to attend the in-person training, you will just need to submit an application for the in-person program. You will already be listed as paid for the online course and your space will be reserved in the in-person training without any additional fees.

Nancy Wile

Nancy Wile (E-RYT 500), the founder of Yoga Education Institute, created the online teacher training programs. She has been practicing yoga for over 25 years and has been training yoga teachers (through RYT 200, RYT 300, Children’s and Prenatal Yoga programs) for over 15 years. She has a doctorate in education from Columbia University and, along with teaching yoga and training yoga teachers, she has spent much time teaching and developing health and wellness programs.
